COT: Moving On

Cats on TuesdayAu is in bed, recovering from a busy weekend. He found and destroyed a mouse nest, chased me up and down the stairs, and watched the stray cats through the kitchen window. He's been a busy kitty.

Although we're doing our best, Au is missing Scoop.

We are too. We keep looking for him when we're cooking, when we come home, when we roll over in bed in the middle of the night.... Even watching TV is weird because there is no Scoop demanding lap time. It's tough.

Should we get Au a friend? I don't know. Probably yes eventually but the idea makes me cry. Give it time.

PS: Scoop enjoying lap time.

If you aren't ready, Au isn't ready. You'll know when it's time and the idea won't make you cry!

Wow Au is a very busy cat!
clearing out a mouse nest is not easy. Good Au!
Give him a scratch on the head for me too.

I am sorry about you other kitty.
Cyber hugs for you!

Indeed a very busy week for Au ! I think it will last for a while until he won't miss Scoop anymore. When we lost our Max, Lisa was also strange for a long time, he had raised her and she missed her "male" mom ! And for you it's also too early it takes a couple of months until you will be ready for another cat. Anyway they are not replaceable, and still stay with us in our hearts.

I forgot, could you put the little Cat logo above your post the next time ? Thanks !

Scoop will always be in your lives. It's still raw right now. With time, the pain will soften to plesant memories. When that is reality, you will be ready for an addition to the family. Don't rush it, give yourself time to work thru your grief.

Hugs & Smiles - D :)

You will know when the time is right to bring another cat into your lives. Au, I am very impressed with your ability to clean out a mouse nest! I've never seen a real mouse and I'm not sure what I would do if I encountered one!

Busy Au, it is good for cats to destroy a mouse nest. We have every day dead mice here in our garden. They are doing their job.
I think it is not a good idea to gave Au a new friend, it is better to wait.
Have a nice day !

Au has been busy! I know you miss your Scoop. It is hard, we still miss Lilly our Golden who passed last year. You look for them for the longest time. If we hadn't gotten the puppies while she was sick it would have been unbearable. When you are ready you'll know and you'll be happy to give your love to help another.

It takes time. It took me a long time before I decided I wanna have another cat after Xmas. Now I look at the Spice Kitties and still think about Xmas. After all, he is the one that makes me fall in love with cats.

It is amazing how long it takes. If I am really really down, I still want my Frankie after all these years. But he wants me to be happy. And he wants me to continue to care for cats that have no one. It will be right for you when it is right. Take your time.

We've been talking about this at home. Although we still miss Scoop very much, Au wants a friend. He's bored, fed up, lonely. So we've asked our vet to keep an eye out for an FIV negative kitten aged 5 months or less who needs a home. Will keep you posted.
