Dog Talk Dangerous Dogs

Dogs are not enjoying much good press this week. The world media showed pictures of President Bush’s dog, Barney, biting Reuters reporter John Decker last weekend. At the same time Singapore headlines revealed politicians are mulling a dangerous dog policy that would forbid some types of fighting dogs to live in Singapore.

I've mentioned this in a previous letter to the editor -- There are no bad dogs, only bad guardians. We are responsible for their well-being, training and discipline. People are quick to dismiss a dog as a 'bad dog' because that way you get to avoid introspection.

My dog wears an anti-bite mask every time I take him for a walk. I make her wear the mask because she is so aggressive when other dogs are around.
