COT food for thought

Au is a picky eater, something I think he learned from me. Unfortunately, the cat food he likes can be hard to find. To ensure a constant supply, I ordered 5 boxes from the manufacturer. We now have some 300 packs of cat food in the house.

Here is Au, sitting on top of the stash and looking rather militant. Even though he's rolling in the stuff, he still thinks he has to guard it. Target teases him by sitting on top of the boxes that are now parked in the store room.

Cats! I love the fact that they are sooooo wicked!

I also wanted to say...

Katz Tales will be out this Saturday in the print version of The Star, the Malaysian national daily.

To all of you who complain to me that they can't get their cat and dog fix every week anymore I would like to say I'm really grateful you like my work. I love writing my pet stories and it's really good to know so many of you do too. THANKS!

Cutting back on publications was not my idea. The Star made cuts at the start of the recession. This means that Katz Tales is only out on the 1st Saturday of the month while Dog Talk is out on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Sorry, it's beyond my control.

If you want to complain about this change, send a note to the editor so she can forward it to her bosses! You can find her at weekend@thestar.com.my.

If you want your regular cat and dog fix, there is this blog. And as Cathy has persuaded me to write on Tuesdays and Fridays instead of just Tuesdays, there are now more updates than before. I'd write more, but as I write for a living I will only do so if I can get a blog sponsor. So far that hasn't happened.

Good news is that my book Katz Tales: Living Under The Velvet Paw is ready to be distributed. It will be in all major bookshops about 8 weeks from now. I'll announce when you can buy it via the column and here. I'm donating 10% of what I make to Friends Furry Farm and will use the rest to deal with the stray cat tribe in my back lane.

That's it for today. See you Friday! For more fuzzies visit Gattina.

au should also guard you like he did his food as you are like the bestest human ever!

Watch the food Au! Don't let anyone get it. Always fun to stop by for a visit here.

I love the way Au is guarding that food like someone is going to take away all 300 bags. I think that Peeve would do the same thing.

Glad you are writing on Tues. and Fridays now.
Congrats that Katz Tales is ready to be distributed.

Congratulations on the book! Can't wait to get a few copies for myself and for cat-and-dog loving friends! Hari Raya, Deepavali, Christmas and Hannukkah are just around the corner!

I would like to go help out at FFF at least once a month, but I don't know the way. The map and directions will send me all the way to Bukit Kayu Hitam instead of Kundang/Kuang. Am getting Covert Dad's help.

Au is a handsome macho kitty! Much better watchcat than a doggie! Target is hilarious! I can imagine him doing it just to irritate the senior fuzz!

My Rowdies are thankfully not fussy. They are on Royal Canin dry food and Smartheart canned food.

My faithful human slave has always enjoyed your writings in the newspaper. I'm sure it's great but I'm really glad I can't read and write, therefore no exam and rat race for me!

I'm pretty sure all my fans will be charmed by your new book!

It looks like Au really likes that food and wants to make sure no one gets their paws on it!

Congratulations on your book!

Maybe he will like the food available at Kitty's Favourite Catch (KFC)? ;p

KFC's menu: raw fish burgers, fried tails (mouse), etc.

Thanks for stopping by. I went shopping yesterday. Im not participating in COT today. Hope I can post something next week. Happy Merdeka Day to you too.

Wohoo! I am so excited of your publication! You and me both, buy cat food in bulk. I usually go to the clearance section and find great bargains. I am sure Au is happy with all the stash. No COTS for me cause I am not posting this week, taking it easy...its the brush fires in SoCal...I will see you around.

I really admire you what you are doing for cats in your country !
I try to help animals whenever I can do it with money or food. Sometimes there is a man sitting in a pet food shop and collects food for old cats, I always fill a trolly for him.
Arthur also is a picky eater but he is vicious too. When I have bought tons of his favourite food, he doesn't like it anymore, lol !

300 packs of Cat Food. Mieeeww, that's a lot.

I'm looking forward to your book.
It's in English?

Our kittens are all in a box in this weeks COT.

Au hold that cat food package down,
it just might move! :) ha ha
Cats are food protectors even when
food is not in a can, they hold on
super tight if they catch a live mousie! Happy COT !

We are very envious of Au and all that FOOD! And many congratulations on your book - please let us know when it is available. Thanks also for all you are doing to help the feral kitties - we read your inoculation post below.

P.S. In answer to your question (and thank you for asking), Dobby is much better, but we do have to take him in for a follow-up. Franklin is still on medication for his cough but we are hoping he won't have to take it forever - we just have to keep lowering the dose to see.

Lol Au you are too funny and shame on you Target for teasing! Can't wait for the book to come out I will be in line to buy it for sure (well, not really in line, but online I guess.) What kind of shots do you get for the strays, just rabies?

Luna is a very picky eater as well - occasionally she will deign to accept a treat.

Congratulations on the distribution of Katz Tales :)

thanks for the offer of the $$$ Ee Lynn but now I have a vet who charges me Malaysian prices instead of super-inflated orang puteh prices $$$ is not a problem. What I do need is space to park recovering kitties! but I am blessed with a new friend who has space and who has offered to help. So after the shots are complete, and after Raya, we start snipping! Hooray :-)

Hello, thank you for dropping by, I have finally put up COT. I think AU is guarding his food, saying these are mine, back off. But the thing is he knows it is food and it is for him, love cats, they are so intelligent. Have a great COT and more to come, cya MonikaRose

Wow! You have a lot of food there to guard Au. You look like me in the face, but I have a lot of white on my body and legs.

Anonymous said...

hi there...wondering what brand of foods are you feeding ur cats...

Ellen Whyte said...

Hi Anon,

They eat lots of things. Biscuits by Felidae and Friskies (except for the ones with the milk biscuits which Au hates) as well as this particular Snappy Tom pouch, and boiled chicken liver and roast chicken and steamed fish. Human food is without salt, pepper etc. They also love human food like ham, chicken roll and turkey roll but we limit that as it has a lot of fat etc.

Hope you pop back to read this. Also try my Food Fight entry that talks more about cat foods at www.lepak.com/2009/02/cat-food-fights.html
