We're keeping him indoors at night, in Scoop's old bedroom, and we let him roam around during the day. Boris spends most of his time on the sofa.
The vet recommended we keep Boris inside, but he is so used to being outside, that I let him sit in the sun in the morning. He just sits in his favourite spot by the gate and soaks up rays. I think it's doing him good.
Boris is in no mood to go roving. In fact, he wants me to carry him up and down the stairs. This does not please Target who is jealous.
Thanks for your purrs. We need them! I'll be a bit slow visiting this week as I'm playing nurse. But we'll get round to you! I'll update you tomorrow.

Poor Boris! I don't blame him one bit for feeling bad having that lampshade on his head! Poor baby!
If he wants to be picked up so be it! He deserves it!! cuddles and kisses to him!
Poor Boris!!! We are so sorry to hear he had an abscess but it sounds like everything is under control now. Wearing the lampshade is a drag and they always look so miserable when they have it on.
When Jimmy had to wear one for two weeks, I made sure he had supervised time everyday with it off. If he started to lick or scratch it went back on but I was always watching.
Oh Boris!!
Worry not! SpiderMeow will send some super purrs over!!
Love, Wolfie (aka SpiderMeow)
Oh dear! You look really sad! Poor Boris. But I'm happy to read that your appetite has not been affected by the lampshade. Did de female get you any imported ham? ;)
Poor Boris! Many purrs and headbutts from us.
Tommy says welcome to the lampshade club and it's not so bad once you get used to it. Purrs.

Boris, we're sending all our purrs and universal Light to you! We hope you get that lampshade off very soon!
Boris I'm glad to hear you are doing better. You look pretty sad with that shade thing. We couldn't keep our Smokey indoors 24/7 either when he was injured...I think it's good to soak up some sun rays, help you feel better quicker.
Goodness Boris - why didn't you tell anyone you had an abscess - you must have been in so much pain. We hope you don't have to keep the cone on too long. In the meantime if your try to put on a sad face we're sure you will get extra treats.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Aww Boris, lampshades are no fun are they. We hope you heal quickly so you can get rid of it again.
so glad to hear that Boris is feeling better. I hope Target gets over his jealousy, there is lots of loving to go around, esp when you do not feel well.
purrs & scritches~
Boris, me and mommy love you. Get better soon for us so we can enjoy seeing your handsome self without the lampshade.
xoxo
Bless Boris' little kitty heart, one of mine has worn one of these before and it's such a pain for them!
I think you might enjoy this kitty post on my 'full-time' blog http://www.britgalusa.com/2011/01/shameless_14.html
Hi! We came to visit you since you were SO nice to visit us :D
(we're the feather wand lovers)
Poor Boris. We are sending him nose licks and gentle headbonks. Mom said she recognizes that hurtie he has. She says it might not be the same thing, but you never know. There were 2 best friend cats here that used to wrestle and play all the time. One day, one of them had a bare spot and then a swollen spot somewhere else. The v-e-t found a tiny puncture that was caused by a tooth in playing and then that caused the abcess. Same for the bald place but not as bad, but still had to be treated with all sorts of stuff. It took a long time to teach those 2 to be more gentle.
Mom says I typed enough. We will hold our paws up for Boris and hope he gets well soon. xxx
I just read the post below ! Poor Boris ! Fortunately you noticed it in time. I call these collars Tudor collars sounds more chic, and was worn by nobel ladies. The bare spot in his back can be an allergy to a plant he touched when he went out. Difficult to say.
It's good to hear that he is feeling better.
Oh, poor Boris, I do hope he feels better soon. Sending lots of good thoughts from me and furry hugs and healing purrs from the kitties.
William the Orange is the topic of my Cats on Tuesday post -- he would love to have you come visit. He's very vain about being the sole focus of a post -- :-)

What happened to poor Boris. Lampshades are so gauche to a cat! Cats, being gods, should wear tiaras or crowns.
Being borne up and down the stairs is a good start on appropriate treatment for a feline god!
Seriously, Boris looks like a nice fellow. Hopefully, he will recover and get back to his old roving self soon!
Thank you for visiting our blog and for your kind comment!
