Au is eating breakfast at 4AM, dinner in the evening and some little meals around those two times, but he's not chomping as much as I was hoping for. He is cheerful, his eyes are bright, and his fur is shiny, but I was sort of hoping he'd be fattening up by now.I'm told I'm too optimistic; that he will take some weeks to recover from this near-death experience. And he is eating!
Au is also getting his old evil sense of humour back again. Yesterday he discovered Boris in "his" arm chair downstairs. Boris always behaves as the Humble Supplicant in front of Au. When Au walks past, Boris lies down.
So when Au jumped on the chair, Boris was already lying down. I could see by Boris' face that he was worried and uncertain what to do next. So I picked him up, and put him on the rug. As Senior Cat, Au gets priority.
Au sat down with a, "Get owt of my chair, you fat borus!" look and when he was sure Boris was staying put on the rug, jumped off the chair and went to snooze on the sofa. Boris was dying to get back to the chair, but decided to make do with the rug. And Au knew it.
As I said, Au has an evil sense of humour.

Hurrah! Au triumphs again.
After KonaKitty got so thin, it took a good month of serious chowing down to get a little padding on her hips and spine. Would Au eat a hi-cal gel supplement? Or kitten food? He looks pretty good in the photo, and if he's devilish he MUST be feeling good.
Hmmm, sounds like Au is feeling a bit better too:) Poor Boris.
It takes time to gain weight, but we understand = we have been waiting for years to fatten up Phantom:(

Rumblemum says she knows what the human is going thru, there were so many times that she felt the same way for Inigo. I think her optimism helped Inigo for a long time, so please don't give up the optimism.
I am so glad that Au seems to be doing better and poor Boris though! Hoping that Au begins to put on some weight for you!

It sounds like Au is feeling better. It may take some time for him to start showing some weight gain, he is coming back from a very difficult time. Poor Boris needs his own chair. We are glad to see the update. Hugs and nose kisses

Pretty good report, we'd say! Remember, it takes a lot of calories and more, to build back muscle. Right now, no weight loss is good, and it may take days or weeks to build back muscle weight. It may not come, but as long as Au's other signs are good...we will say success!

We hope Au gains some weight but it is good that he's eating and still being the head kitty in the house! Poor Boris though.

We are very happy that Au is getting recovering and returning to his old self! I guess you will have to be patient about the weight gain it will happen slowly but steadily :-)

I definitely think him getting his evil sense of humor back and putting Boris in his place is a very encouraging development. His face is so cute in that picture I just want to kiss those cheeks!
Perhaps his tummy shrank a little when he was sick and he needs to eat smaller meals until it stretches again. If he is getting bossy again and making the rules he must be feeling somewhat better.

He is willingly eating on his own, and jumping up on a chair! All very good! He has the will to get what he wants. Fantastic! I think Au is on the mend for sure.

I haven't been on for a week so I am really happy to come here and see that Au is doing well. It may take quite awhile for him to put weight on. He is eating and that is good. The return of the little tricks he plays on the other cats, must be a sign that he is feeling better.
We send our purrs and love to all and special prayers for Au.
It is always a good sign when our loved ones (be they human or furry) get their ornriness back...Mom always knows that we are ok for sure when I have to try to oust Tiny from her roost or when Tiny has to swat at me just for being in her way. We're glad that Au is doin' his thing!! As for the food, I guess it does just take time and perhaps his body is healing at the speed that it needs to heal, because it wouldn't be too good if things go too quickly.
