Au The Gourmet Kitty

Au used to eat 1 type of cat food, 1 type of cat biscuit, and ham.  He would take a mouthful of roast chicken or beef but only a bit.

Now that he is a Senior Cat and coming up for his 14th birthday, Au has become a gourmet cat.  Each day is a new adventure in tastes and textures.

Yesterday Au ate:

Chicken and Sardine Cat food
Cat biscuits
Red Snapper Cat Food (twice)
Roast chicken (twice)
Half a slice of chicken roll
Steak - raw, cadged while I was preparing lunch.
Steak - cooked, cadged off our plates
One slice of bratwurst
A smidgeon of Gouda cheese
Several BBQ crisps
Dental treats

After he was so sick last year, we're so happy to see him interested in food, we give him what he wants!

Is dat rost pork? rost chikkun? rost lamb? i want some!  it's my favrut!
Could you resist this face?

Target Is A Butterball

Our friend Sue gave us this pet carrier. But as Target illustrates, we've got a problem.

Looks interesting!

Oh oh!  Can't fit my bum in here.

I didn't want to sit in it anyway...
We shall be presenting this to our friends at PAWS for their next charity auction or competition.... Thanks Sue!

Target, Guido and Au's Unsolved Mysteries...

Target here! Thanks for the purrs; I'm looking all handsome again and I'm ready to party!

Guido caught a baby rat
We're blogging today because the girls from Zoolatry have asked us if we have any unsolved mysteries. Well, we do!

It all started when Guido caught a baby rat.  He took it inside and played with it under the sofa.

Then we lent it to me and I took it outside.  I played with it, then Guido played with it, and then we both played with it...

I got to play with it too!
We stopped to have a drink of water (it's furry hot in Malaysia, you know!) and when we came back...the rat was gone!!!

Instead, there was this little pile of dental treats!!!

It's a huge mystery.

Guido: Mummy Cat was there all the time.  She was keeping an eye on our rat for us while we went to have a drink.

NOTHING could have sneaked past her.  It must be something Invisible.  Something Creepy. Something that can turn Rats into Dental Treats!

It's a Real Mystery!
Target is a fur brain

Au: de mystery is how you two fur brains ever got a rat in de first place!  you two are such furyr brains dat you kouldn't find your tayuls in de dark.

For more feline mysteries, check out Zoolatry...

Target Is Better

Target is better.  We caught the abscess so quickly, that 48 hours later there is no bump and no hot spot.

Target thinks he doesn't need his medicine but I'm continuing it just in case there is a tiny spot of infection left inside that handsome furry face.

If all is well Friday, we'll quit then.

Thanks for the purrs, everyone.  And for that amazing Pick Me Up Off The Floor After The Visit To The Vet cocktail recipe!  Meow and see you on Mystery Friday!

Target Has A War Wound

Yesterday the stray cat with the long furry tail broke into the house.  Au raised a war cry and beat the hell out of him.

Au was so loud and so fast and so vicious that the grey cat rushed out of the house as fast as his paws could carry him.

He was in such a rush that he ran straight over the top of Target who was running to Au's rescue.

In his haste, the gray cat must have scratched Target's cheek.

This morning Target was fine but as 11AM his cheek felt hot.  By 2PM I had him in the vet.  His surgeon says he's never seen such a young abscess, and that it's nothing to worry about.

Target was supremely brave while his cheek was shaved and his abscess lanced and so was I.

We're now back at home.  Target is asleep in bed and I am about to have the largest drink in the entire universe.

I'm brave at the vet's because my fur friend needs me to be a cool calm rock in his time of need, but between you and me, the whole thing makes me sick with fear and nerves.

Purr for Target please, and if you've some spare, purr for me too!

LIM: Welcome To The War

On Monday morning 3 bombs went off in downtown Kuala Lumpur. Five people were injured.

I grew up with terrorism: the IRA in the UK and ETA in Spain, so it always bothered me when overseas visitors say things like, "Why don't you talk to them?"

My reply has always been, "Why negotiate with a coward who gets his kicks out of killing and hurting complete strangers who happen to be in pubs, schools and supermarkets?"

Until a week ago, many of my Malaysian friends were all for negotiating with terrorists. Some have been a bit superior about the fact that terrorism isn't (or wasn't!) a factor here. They claimed that bombing is alien to this culture, glossing over people like Azahari Husin and Noordin Mohammed Top, Malaysian terrorists who orchestrate bombings abroad (Indonesia in their case).

After Monday's incident I haven't heard a single one of them suggest we negotiate or even try to find out what these KL bombers want. They're now singing my tune.

I think the world will be a better place when all of us condemn all terrorist bombings no matter who conducts them or where, but I can't say I'm happy about how we all got on the same page.

This has been a very sad week.

Target Speaks: On Desk Duty

As some of you know, I am a Senior Office Snoopervisor.

It's my job to:

1. Hit the F1 button when Mummy Cat is confused because that puts up a Help screen.

2. THE HIT THE CAPS LOCK KEY WHEN MUMMY CAT IS MAKING AN IMPORTANT POINT.

3. Add interesting punctuation @@##$$%% when she's writing boring stuff. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mummy Cat set up a special chair for me right next to hers because she says I need to spread out and relax.

But I know my duty.  Mummy Cat needs me.  So I stretch out on the desk where I can be on paw for my snoopervising duties all day long.

I am furry dedicated you know!

We also have our own page on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/KatzTales a one stop centre for Au's tweets, quick updates and extra photos that don't make the blog. Come like us?

A Great Start To The Year

We went out for dinner at New Year and the cats got a carry-out. Steak!

Cooked by Zaa and Dave, and pawed along by Tis, Stu and MJ.

Guido checked it out with his paw, and then munched up the lot.  This was only the first batch; Guido ended up having fourths.

Au decided he would stick with his chicken but Target got some steak too.  He gobbled his so quickly that I didn't have time to take a picture.

I think steak is going to be one of our favourites in 2012!

The other great thing is that Her World magazine has featured Logomania Fate & Fortune, my new book!

If you haven't seen it yet, click here to download a Sneak Peek printable PDF file or click here to buy online from MPH

Wishing you all a happy, fun-filled, healthy, successful and purry New Year.
