We Forgot Guido's Gotcha Day!

It was Guido's First Gotcha Day on the 16th of July and we missed it! When Guido arrived he was so tiny. And now he's a big man cat.

Target Speaks: I'm Working Out

Kitties, after last week's humiliating interview at Mousebreath I am working out!  I am flexing my brain muscles by reading.

Our friend Cathrine Garnell sent us her book Basil The Bionic Cat.  It's all about a kitty who eats some lab stuff and turns into a supercat!

I've been reading it for a whole week and I've finished the title and I licked the cover.  I'm feeling smarter already.

Mummy Cat borrows it from me and is on Part Two.  She says it's furry exciting but she won't spoil it for me by tell me the plot.  All she'll say is that Basil has bright green eyes and is really tough on criminal plants.  It sounds SUPER.

Breakfast With Guido

Guido was on a raw food diet when he was living at Pet Epicure so when we adopted him, I thought he might want a taste from home.

However, Guido ignored the raw food and dove into commercial cat food. As he ate nothing else, I stopped offering raw meat.

Then when I was making a steak and mushroom pie some weeks later, Guido pitched up and by shameless begging showed me wanted some steak.

He then proceeded to snaffle a large share of the steak so we had a mushroom with some steak pie.

Ever since then he's been eating raw steak for breakfast and dinner - with the odd bowl of commercial cat food and lots of dental treats.

Alicia and the gang at Pet Epicure said that Guido was a scrap of fur and bones when he arrived on their doorstep.  They fed him up and when they gave him to me, Guido was a good looking little cat.

He's still handsome but he's growing by the hour. 

This is him now: big, tall, powerful, super shiny and bursting with health and energy.

Food, Glorious Food - And Bed

Au has been in a pawsome mood recently. He's eating like a small pig in fur, and he's purring up a storm.

Our senior cat woke got me out of bed at 6 this morning, demanding an early breakfast. He ate a whole pouch of cat food, and finished off with a slice of French ham. Now he's in bed, purring and fuzzing happily.

As it's still dark and I don't want to disturb him with the flashy thing, here's a pic I took of him last week.

Life is good!

Target Speaks: Good For Your Health

You know how I can be a furry nervous kitty?  Well, day before yesterday I went to inspect the construction at the house across the street.

I climbed up - and then I couldn't find my way back down!

Thanks Cod, Mummy Cat came out and called for me.  When I meowed, she talked me down.

I had to go along the ledge, and behind the big roof, and then down to the wall, and finally Mummy Cat picked me up all safe and sound from the pillar.

I have drawn you a picture.

I was all hot and bothered.  You can imagine how nervous I was!   

Anyway, Mummy Cat put me on her lap and petted me.  I could feel my heart slow down, and my blood pressure cooled too.  Then I couldn't help it, I had to close my eyes and nap.

I've been reading that petting cats is linked to a lower risk of heart attacks.  I can tell you from my experience that it's true.

Efurry cat should have a Mummy Cat.  It's essential for good health!

Au's Super Loo

We used to have a litter box set up in the spare bathroom but as neither Au nor Target used it, we eventually took it away.

When Guido joined our family, we put up a litter box for him.  I thought it would be temporary because cats tend to prefer the fern patch we've set aside for them in the garden.

Guido did prefer the ferns but Au decided that his old bones need an indoor loo.

Unfortunately our senior cat was too big for the standard cat tray and when I looked at the prices of a commercial cat loo, I almost died of a heart attack.  I mean, RM100+++ for a piece of plastic???

I wanted something large so Au could turn around comfortably, and something with tall walls so he could kick the sand about without making a mess.  When I went out I discovered that baby baths are ideal.

Here is ours - complete with Au as feline model.

The baby bath cost RM19 and it is filled with three types of sand.  There's the clumping stuff so it's easy to clean, the white soft stuff that Au loves best, and a sprinkling of odour absorbing stuff just for being fancy.

As it's a big, deep loo, it has tonnes of sand, which also means its' easy to clean.  I clean twice a day by scooping and I replace all the sand about once every 3 weeks.

Every time Au uses it, I can see him think, "This is pawsome!"
